1 Corinthians
What are the strengths and weaknesses in this church? While this church had more problems than one could ever dream, they didn’t lack courage in asking for Paul’s help. This was their saving strength. Their weaknesses were many; disunity, divisions, jealousy and quarrels, sexual immorality, disrespecting the Lord’s supper.
What is the main idea of this epistle? Paul is tackling many errors in this church but with a liberality that would not crush the Law of Love which is the very means of correction. It is a letter of profound truth and savvy for this reason! "Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love–and the greatest of these is love." I Cor. 13:13.
What does this book show about the nature and character of God? The "love chapter" 13 is God’s nature and character. There is no mistaking this. In a culture filled with greed and lust, this explanation of God’s love so exquisitely expressed, should satisfy a soul for a lifetime. Paul’s patience, forbearance and patience is how a true father functions in "training mode."
I like the way you processed the main idea...great job!
