2 Corinthians

2 Corinthians

What are the strengths and weaknesses of this church? Pride is still lifting it’s head in this church in which members are questioning Paul’s authority. However, many areas of correction were heeded. When Paul writes, "Your lives are a letter written on our hearts," 2 Cor. , we know that there are good things happening and that Paul’s work has not been in vain. In Acts 20:2-3 there seems to be an indirect reference to Corinth; "Then he traveled down to Greece, where he stayed for three months."

What is the main idea for this epistle? After all this church has gone through, 2 Cor. 4:17-18 sums things up; "For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things than cannot be seen . . . things we cannot see will last forever." Key words would be comfort–listed. In four verses, comfort is listed 9 times! "New" is an often repeated word–a word that Paul lives by!

What does the epistle show of the character and nature of God? Again, I see God’s character through the father heart of Paul. The patient and longsuffering heart he has in explaining the heart of God (with his own godly advice included), in all the areas of trials they’ve been facing.
